The McMillan Curriculum
At McMillan Nursery School, our school curriculum has been carefully designed to meet the needs of our children and our local community here in Nelson.
This half term we are intending to help children develop confidence in their own abilities in readiness for their transition to Primary School. Staff have formed good links to feeder schools and transition meetings are in progress. During Key Group time, children are talking about their likes/dislikes, what they are good at and what they are looking forward to about starting school.
Our Easter intake are learning about the different equipment in nursery and how to use it safely and appropriately.
The staff and children celebrated Eid al-Fitr with a party. The children have been inspired to talk about their similarities and differences.
We are currently incubating 7 quail eggs. The children have learnt some new words, such as 'hatch' and 'incubator' and they are all learning how to look after our eggs carefully.
